What is Fun-Run?
Fun-Run is our annual Fundraising Event that benefits Arkansas Children’s Hospital “Camp Sunshine”! This day is full of Off-Road Trail Riding at the Hot Springs Off-Road Park, Lunch & Dinner served at the Park Pavilion, and our annual Raffle and Fundraiser held in the evening. Purchasing Event T-shirts, Hats, Stickers, and more also helps us reach our goal to provide funds for the deserving Camp Sunshine Kids.
As with all Fun-Run Events, all proceeds from this weekend event are donated to Arkansas Children's Hospital Camp Sunshine. Find out more about the amazing program that Camp Sunshine offers for Burn Survivors here!
But how did we get here? Learn about how we got started below.
Our Story Begins - 1991
Our story begins with Arkansas Children's Hospital "Camp Sunshine" which was founded in 1991 to promote physical and emotional healing, growth, and development of burned children.
Beginning in 2009, the 4-Wheel-Drive community banded together to provide a yearly event for the participants of Camp Sunshine. These children are able to spend a day at the Hot Springs Off-Road park which includes a jeep ride and lunch.
In 2015, we wanted to give back and the Fun-Run event came to life. With nothing more than a few friends gathered for a day and a small raffle we were able to raise $2100.
With our second annual Fun-Run several of our local clubs banded together to help with this event. The Arkansas Crawlers, Salty Jeepers, and the Seven Slots Jeep Club worked together to make this a great success. This year we provided meals, trail guides and a really nice raffle, raising right at $12,000.
Planning the 3rd annual Fun-Run event we had some conflict on dates and then decided the 1st weekend in May would be the best recurring yearly date. Thanks to the Arkansas Crawlers, Salty Jeepers, and Seven Slots Jeep Club for another great weekend with a great turnout. We were able to raise $10,500.
The 4th annual Fun-Run was a huge success! Thanks again to the clubs who helped make this possible. Arkansas Crawlers, Salty Jeepers, Seven Slots Jeep Club and this year The Lone Star Jeep Club not only came to support the event, but stepped in as one of our sponsors. Wonderful weather and a very good time! We raised just over $17,000!
New for 2019 - we have formed a non-profit organization Fun-Run Inc with 501©(3) status along with our own Website, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. We feel this will be beneficial for years to come as our organization continues to grow.
Fun-Run 2019, our 5th annual event, was a huge success with over 350 registered for meals. This year, we donated $21,235 to Arkansas Children's Hospital with a total of $62,835 since 2015. Thank you everyone who supported this event!
Unfortunately, we were not able to have our Fun-Run event in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but with the help of our generous sponsors, we raised $7,000 to donate to Arkansas Children's Hospital!
What a great event this year! Last minute changes allowed us to do the event and it was the biggest ever. With just three weeks to make it happen the 4x4 community pulled through once again, and we raised $22,000.00 that will be donated to Camp Sunshine.
That's, a total of $91,835.00 we have been able to donate to Arkansas Children's Hospital Camp Sunshine since we started in 2015!!
What an honor to be able to donate $56,675 to Arkansas Children's Camp Sunshine thanks to all of our generous donors and sponsors from our Fall 2021 Side x Side Bash. And because of a generous group of donors, we were ALSO able to give away a 2021 Polaris RZR XP Pro Ultimate Side x Side. What a blessing to be part of something so special for the kiddos and young adults who are surviving the unimaginable!
Great event this year! Because of our generous donors, participants, and sponsors, we were able to donate $28,000 to Camp Sunshine this year.
That's a total of $176,500 since we started the Fun-Run event in 2005!!
Camp Sunshine was able to bring the kids out for a Jeep Ride!! We are so glad to be back to taking these kiddos on an adventure!
